When is the best time to visit a U-Pick lemon grove in Florida?
The short answer is: U-Pick season at Camellia Groves begins in June—but the season continues to build into late summer, with peak fruit in September.
Starting in June, you’ll find lemons that are juicy and perfect for cooking, drinks, and fresh use. As the season progresses, more fruit ripens across the grove, leading into a fuller, peak experience later in the summer.
What U-Pick Season Looks Like

At Camellia Groves, U-Pick season begins in June, when the first lemons are ready to harvest.
Early in the season, you’ll notice:
Some fruit is still green or just beginning to turn yellow
Lemons are already juicy and great for using right away
A quieter, more relaxed grove experience
As the summer continues, more fruit ripens across the grove, building toward peak season in September, when trees are fuller and the experience is at its most vibrant.
During U-Pick days, you can:
Walk through the grove and pick your own lemons right from the tree
Enjoy the fresh citrus scent and shaded orchard paths
Experience a relaxed, family-friendly outing
We also often have select vendors and food trucks during U-Pick days, making it more than just picking fruit—it’s a full grove experience.
Why Lemons Are Available for Months
Lemon trees don’t produce all their fruit at once—they bloom multiple times throughout the year.
At Camellia Groves:
Winter blooms (December–January) produce fruit ready in June
A major spring bloom produces fruit later in the summer
Trees continue to bloom throughout the year
This is why you’ll find lemons available across multiple months—not just a single harvest window.
The grove typically rests during March, April, and May, before the next season begins.
Because of this extended growing cycle, there’s often fruit on the trees beyond the main summer U-Pick season.
This is also what makes events like our Limoncello Festival in December possible—when we celebrate the season with fresh lemons, local vendors, and a different kind of grove experience.

Why Timing Matters
Timing your visit can slightly change what you’ll experience.
Early Season (June–July)
Fewer crowds
Great lemons for juicing and cooking
A more relaxed, early-season feel
Peak Season (August–September)
More fully ripened yellow fruit
Fuller trees and a more abundant feel
The most vibrant grove experience
